TheatriKIDS and Canyon Moon Theatre Presents: Pinkalicious
Based on the book by Victoria Kann and Elizabeth Kann
May 5 – May 7
A beloved and high-energy musical about a girl with an obsession for pink cupcakes is soon to be staged at the Doris Harper-White Community Playhouse as part of the TheatriKIDS 2017 season. Based on the popular book by Victoria Kann and Elizabeth Kann, “Pinkalicious” runs May 5 through 7 at the Playhouse, 11 W Cherry Ave., located in historic downtown Flagstaff.
Mary Guaraldi, the producing artistic director for Canyon Moon Theatre, is directing the mixed-aged cast of 16—including three adults—while Kenlynn Winsor is music director.
The play tells the tale of Pinkalicious’ pink indulgence, which lands her at the doctor’s office with Pinkititis, an affliction that turns her pink from head to toe and happens to be a dream come true for this pink-loving enthusiast. But when her hue goes too far, only Pinkalicious and her brother can figure out a way to get out of this pink predicament.
“I’m thrilled to direct ‘Pinkalicious’ again because it’s such a delightful family show,” said Guaraldi, who first directed the play while working as a visiting artist with Boston Children’s Theatre. “It’s about being who you are, but learning that sometimes balance is a part of life. I love to watch the reactions of children in the audience as they go on the journey with Pinkalicious and her family. They’re priceless.”
Performances are Friday and Saturday, May 5 and 6, at 7 p.m. and May 6 and Sunday, May 7, at 2 p.m. Reserved seating is available and tickets are $12 plus applicable fees.
Tickets can be purchased online at Theatrikos.com; by calling (928) 774-1662; or by visiting the theater’s Box Office, which is open from noon to 6 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and two hours prior to each performance.
