Character Descriptions
Arnold Beckoff (age late 20’s-30’s):    A Brooklyn Jewish drag queen, whose greatest desire is to find love and respect in his life.  The role is extraordinarily challenging, as Arnold is nearly always on stage.  Requires appearing briefly in drag; Brooklyn dialect.

Ed Reiss (age 30’s-40’s):  Very handsome bisexual love interest of both Arnold and Laurel.  He is masculine with a boyish charm.

Laurel (age 30’s-40’s):  The straight female love interest of Ed.  She has a general distrust of men, is neurotic, and has spent years in therapy.  Like Arnold and Ed, she is looking for love and respect. (ACT II only)

Alan (age 18-20’s):  Alan is a very handsome, young, charming man, who has made a name for himself as a model.  All-American good looks, he spent some time as a male hustler upon his arrival in New York City.  He is needy, yet street-wise.  (ACT II only)

Ma Beckoff (age 50’s-60’s):  The quintessential Jewish mother.  Ma has a caustic wit, and wants her children to be happy, as long as their happiness follows in her ideas of what their lives should be like.  She struggles to cope with Arnold’s homosexuality.  Brooklyn dialect.  (ACT III only)

David (age 15):  David is the adopted son of Arnold.  He is a gay, street-wise punk, handsome and charming.  (ACT III only)
