Joel Austin

Life Sucks is Joel’s Austin’s Flagstaff premiere, though audience members may recognize him from a three show run in Sedona with Emerson Theater Collaborative, where he is now a core member (Silence Is Not Golden, A Vintage Christmas, and Black Irish). Joel has been working in theatre and film for over twenty-five years and has been fortunate to train with such legendary teachers as Terry Schreiber in New York City and Howard Fine in Los Angeles. He has also worked with renowned artists like David Auburn (Pulitzer Prize Award-Winning playwright of Proof), Emmy Award winner Hank Azaria, and most recently Jessica Chastain, Michael Shannon, Ellen Burstyn, and more in the Amazon original series The Space Within. Joel has worked in the southeast, New England/New York, the Pacific Northwest, and most recently the Southwest. While he lives in Los Angeles, Northern Arizona has become an artistic second home for Joel, so he’s thrilled to explore Flagstaff and breathe life into Aster in this production of Life Sucks. If you enjoy Joel’s work, check him out in Emerson Theater Collaborative’s upcoming production of Barefoot in the Park this December.
